Our Private Pilot
Airplane Course includes a combination of ground and flight instruction that will prepare
you to attain the skills and knowledge to operate an airplane safely and
efficiently as a competent Private Pilot. You will receive your flying lessons
primarily in the Fort Worth - Texas Meacham Field Airport area.
The course includes:

Flight time is based on FAA minimum requirements. Actual time required to
complete the course will depend on individual performance. The national average
flight time required to pass the Private Pilot Airplane flight test is
approximately 65 hours. Additional ground school and/or flight time, if needed,
will be charged at the current rate.

To be eligible for a student pilot
certificate, an applicant must:

Be at least 16 years of age for other than
the operation of a glider or balloon.

Be at least 14 years of age for the
operation of a glider or balloon.

Be able to read, speak, write, and
understand the English language. If the applicant is unable to meet one of these
requirements due to medical reasons, then the Administrator may place such
operating limitations on the applicant's pilot certificate as a necessary for
the safe operation of the aircraft.
To be eligible for a private pilot
certificate airplane, a person must be at least 17 years of age the day of the
practical test.
Private Pilot-Airplane Single-Engine Land / Minimum Aeronautical Experience
Summary F.A.R. (61-109)
- 20 hours of flight training from an
authorized instructor.
- 10 hours of solo flight training.
- 3 hours of cross-country flight training
in a single-engine airplane.
- 3 hours of night flight training in a
single-engine airplane.
- One cross-country flight over 100 NM
total.
- 10 takeoffs and 10 landings to a full
stop (with each involving a flight in the traffic pattern at an
airport.
- 3 hours of flight training in a
single-engine airplane on the control and maneuvering of an airplane solely by
reference to instruments.
- 3 hours of flight training in preparation
for the practical test in a single-engine airplane, which must have been
performed within 60 days preceding the date of the test.
- 10 hours of solo flight time in a
single-engine airplane consisting of at least:
- 5 hours of solo cross-country time.
- One solo cross-country flight of at least
150 NM total distance with full stop landings at a minimum of 3 points, and one
segment of flight consisting of a straight line distance of at least 50 NM
between the takeoff and landing locations.
- 3 takeoffs and 3 landings to a full stop
( with each landing involving a flight in the traffic pattern) at an airport
with an operating control tower.
