Our Complex Airplane Course includes a combination of ground and flight instruction that will prepare you to attain the skills and knowledge to operate a Complex Airplane safely and efficiently. You will receive your flying lessons primarily in the Fort Worth - Texas / Meacham International Airport (KFTW) area.

 

Complex Airplane Course / Complex Airplane endorsement / Cessna 172RG Cutlass

  • 5 hours Dual CE-172RG
  • 3 hours Ground School
  • Total cost: $1,007.00*

 

*Actual time required to complete the course will depend on individual performance. Additional ground school and/or flight time, if needed, will be charged at the current rate.

 

FAR 61.31 (e) Additional training required for operating complex airplanes

(1) Except as provided in paragraph (e) (2) of this section, no person may act as pilot in command of a complex airplane (an airplane that has a retractable landing gear, flaps, and a controllable pitch propeller; or, in the case of a seaplane, flaps and a controllable pitch propeller), unless the person has:

(i) Received and logged ground and flight training from an authorized instructor in a complex airplane, or in a flight simulator or flight training device that is representative of a complex airplane, and has been found proficient in the operation and systems of the airplane; and

(ii) Received a one-time endorsement in the pilot's logbook from an authorized instructor who certifies the person is proficient to operate a complex airplane.

(2) The training and endorsement required by paragraph (e) (1) of this section is not required if the person has logged flight time as pilot in command of a complex airplane, or a flight simulator or flight training device that is representative of a complex airplane prior to August 4, 1997.

 

Minimum Qualification & Experience to fly Solo / PIC our Cessna 172RG Cutlass

Private/Commercial/ATP Certificate with Single Engine Land Rating and check out. Minimum of 100 Total logged hours and 25 Hours in Retractable Gear Aircraft and 5 hours in the same Make & Model Aircraft. A Renter Pilot may receive a minimum of 5 Hours Flight Instruction with AIR FIRST, LLC in the same Make & Model of Aircraft in lieu of having the 25 Hours required in Retractable Gear Aircraft. Must have a Complex Airplane endorsement or High Performance endorsement dating prior to August 4, 1997 / FAR 61.31(e) (see above).
